Located in the main street of Normanville is a retro little US-style diner, the Southbound Diner.
Decked out in 1950s and 60s memorabilia, it’s somewhat like stepping into a time warp!
We popped in for lunch, but they also serve breakfast each day, and dinner, from Friday to Sunday.
We enjoyed a ‘Hound Dog’ hot dog with melted cheese and sauce served with beer battered fries. A pretty standard hot dog with a nicely toasted bun and well cooked fries.
A hamburger with lamb pattie, cheese, bacon, beetroot, tomato, lettuce, mayo and home made ma dud relish served with beer battered fries. It certainly was a big, juicy burger with a bun that held it all together!
And our son enjoyed from the ‘Little Boppers’ kids menu, a cheeseburger with ketchup served with beer battered fries. He liked it!
We also ordered chocolate and vanilla shakes which were light and airy with a good flavour.
There are a few tables inside with bench seating long the window and a couple of tables outside. The staff were very friendly and our meals were arrived quickly.
I look forward to returning and trying something else from the menu!
