A cute, homely café in Yankalilla is Lilla’s café.
Owners Ina and Ron Tremaine serve up breakfast, lunch and wood oven pizzas. It’s a popular spot to stop for a bite to eat or for a coffee.
It’s a light airy café with bright paintings from local artists on the walls and a lovely outdoor garden area.
We ate here twice, for breakfast, including the public holiday Monday.
I chose the ‘Aussie’ breakfast consisting of home made bread, poached eggs, bacon and grilled tomato, with an added side of sausage. A pretty standard breakfast with the all-important runny egg yolks!
My husband enjoyed ‘Eggs Lilla’s – Style’ which included a thick slice of home made bread, smoked salmon, green asparagus, two poached eggs topped with hollandaise sauce and a side of mushrooms. A breakfast he thoroughly enjoyed.
And our son had the best breakfast I think! A stack of chocolate chip pancakes, served with fruit, maple syrup and whipped cream. They were beautiful fluffy pancakes, although the fruit could have been fresh, such as some berries. But they were so good I ordered them on our next visit!
I would like to see some other extras on the menu though such as avocado (preferably smashed!), chorizo or haloumi.
A comfy café with happy friendly staff and great breakfast to set us up for the rest of the day of exploring
Next time I’ll stop by for a wood oven pizza or a piece of home made cake!
the choc chip pancake get my vote 🙂
