Sidewood wines is a privately owned vineyard in the Adelaide Hills, with owners Owen and Cassandra Inglis establishing the estate in 2004. Situated in the cool climate of the Hills, Sidewood wines have won a variety of wine awards.
The latest vintage was released at Grace the Establishment, Norwood.
Here we sampled the Sparkling Pinot Noir chardonnay, with strawberry and citrus characteristics;
The 2015 Sauvignon Blanc with aromas of lychee and passionfruit and a bright green/yellow colour;
The 2014 Pinot Gris, pale in colour with pear, stonefruit and rockmelon characteristics;
The 2013 Chardonnay with aromas of mango, apricot and cashews;
And the 2014 Shiraz with aromas of cherries, blackberries and spice.
Accompanying this beautiful tasting were plates of fresh oysters with a sprinkling of seaweed on the top;
Fresh South Australian prawns, juicy and brightly coloured;
Pate on crackers with relish and a scattering of crushed pine nuts;
And mini lamb tarts with smashed peas.
Sidewood Wines cellar door is located at Maximilian’s restaurant, in Verdun. Here you can taste at the cellar door, have a casual bite to eat or dine at the amazing Maximilian’s restaurant.
