Tucked away in Mawson Lakes, just inside Queen Phoenix Asian Supermarket, is Bunme.Co, a small Vietnamese eatery started by Tho and his sister.

Bunme.Co specialises in Vietnamese food, especially that tasty bread roll, Bánh mì!

With many businesses and units in the area, it has a perfect spot for people out on their lunch breaks.

I stopped by and tried the ‘famous crispy crackling pork’ Bánh mì, which was made fresh while I waited. The bread rolls are sourced locally and are super soft on the inside with an extra crispy crust. The pork is cooked fresh each day, with excellent crispy crackling! Very important! The other ingredients all fresh; pate, pickled carrot and daikon, cucumber, spring onion, coriander and soy sauce. Chilli is also available, and as it’s made fresh, ingredients can be left out as need be.

My Bánh mì was soft, crunchy and full of fresh ingredients with flavours ranging from soft tender pork, to crispy crackling, pickled vegetables and salty soy sauce!

I also enjoyed some freshly made spring rolls, full of well-seasoned chicken mince, rice vermicelli noodles and grated carrot – jam packed with ingredients and I quite enjoyed those dipped in the sweet chilli sauce.

And they do make Vietnamese iced coffee – a favourite of mine, with a strong coffee flavour!

While I watched my Bánh mì being freshly made, nearby workers popped in and picked up their orders, which they ordered through the Bunme.Co website.

Other dishes include rice vermicelli salads, cold rolls and dim sims, while Bánh mì fillings also include lemongrass beef, bbq chicken, lemongrass chicken and vegetarian.
