Long-time friends Tricia and Tanya founded A Fanciful Notion wines just this year and already they having success with their two brands Whimsy and Quiet Revolution. It’s a social enterprise passionate about creating these fabulous wines and forming partnerships that empower South Australians.

At the launch of A Fanciful Notion wines, at the Black Addition in Kent Town, we tasted the range of wines along with some yummy nibbles including this pretty display from Lunch Bunch!

But first, bubbles! The 2015 A Fanciful Notion Blanc de Blanc is a chardonnay with vivid lemony notes along with pear, honeysuckle and green apple.

Whimsy wines are small batch wines chosen for their quality from South Australian wine regions. In the Whimsy range there’s the 2015 Sangiovese and the 2016 Adelaide Hills Pinot Noir. The Sangiovese is from the Barossa Valley with a splash of Lagrein and Merlot with rich earthy and dark cherry notes. The Adelaide Hills Pinot is from Woodside and is medium bodied with woody cherry and spice notes.

The wines have been titled ‘Truth in Ink’ where you’ll see local people feature on their wine labels showcasing their passion for tattoos.

Quiet Revolution wine is a specially created vegan friendly wine. And with this label they undertake to support local people, charities and groups through the promotion of awareness for their cause. A percentage of all wine sales are donated to the highlighted organisation to assist them in the work that they do to affect change.

The crispy fruity ‘The White’ sources its grapes from McLaren Vale with aromas of green aples, pear, white peaches with the palate finishing with fresh crisp fruit crunch. This label supports Freedom Hill Sanctuary, a charity providing homes for abused and neglected animals.

‘The Red’, a blend from McLaren Vale, has soft mellow tannins with hints of black pepper coupled with ripe berries, smoky plum and dark fruit. This label supports Harvest Fair, a meal delivery serviced which uses the power of good food to advance gender equality.

A Fanciful Notion wines can be found in some restaurants including Nonna and I and Mai Kitchen or via their website.
